Our Process Technology Group is a team of skilled physicists, engineers, chemists and material scientists who develop and use the advanced technologies available at M-Solv. Our core expertise is in laser, inkjet and spray deposition processes for manufacturing large area electronics
We use our technologies to enable ~ metre scale devices with ~ micron scale features for a wide range of devices e.g. touch sensors, photovoltaic panels or bio-sensors. We can work on this micro-scale by deploying precision optical, mechanical and software systems, along with scientific knowledge of the actual material interactions, to control a range of additive or subtractive manufacturing processes.
The group has the expertise to develop new manufacturing processes to solve a wide range of manufacturing problems posed by our customers. These can be small scale contract tests or large projects, where we can act more like a technology consultancy. We can then take these proof-of-principle results all the way through to small, in-house, production runs. Finally, we can work alongside our other departments to design and build systems to take these processes through to mass production.
In our well-equipped laboratories we have access to a wide range of laser sources (from the UV to the IR) including fast and ultra-fast pulsed laser systems. There are also a range of micro deposition systems for laying down a (nano-) materials. We have a range of unique, configurable platforms (including roll-to-roll and large size substrate capabilities) with hybrid technologies for combining additive and subtractive processes on one tool.
With our unique skills, we also work with other partners on a range of government and EU funded R&D projects and are always interested to be involved in other projects to solve new manufacturing challenges.
