The MSV-800 is designed as a production platform for advanced laser processing of thin films on sheet based substrate materials, such as glass or PET. The platform has the ability to support multiple process heads, fed from multiple lasers through beam conditioning optics, and a wide range of options and ancillaries are available (including auto-loaders). The machine is designed with two separate work piece chucks that share the same platform, so that part loading/unloading can be performed on one chuck, while the other chuck is being processed, allowing maximum throughput rates and use of the laser. Each chuck can hold multiple parts.
The tool is based on a granite slab with a granite bridge above, mounted on vibration isolators and a steel frame. The granite structure ensures thermal and mechanical stability of the system and excellent damping of external vibrations from the environment. Each chuck has an area of 250mm x 1000mm and can be designed to accept large single sheets of material or multiple smaller substrates translated by stages with travel of 200mm x 850mm.
The tool is designed for a maximum of 6 individual process heads, and up to 6 fibre lasers, although other laser configurations are possible.
The tool includes multiple machine vision cameras for part alignment and/or inspection, incorporates laser debris/fume extraction, and is contained in an interlocked class 1 laser-safe enclosure, which is compatible with Class 1000 clean rooms.
